Manufacturing & Operations – This role provides leadership, technical expertise, and a critical engineering focus in optimizing manufacturing processes for high-volume production, supporting continuous improvement, automation, and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, VSM).
- Drive OEE, throughput, equipment uptime/reliability, and cycle time improvements with cross‑functional teams.
- Analyze production data to identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues, implementing corrective actions.
- Support Digital Manufacturing initiatives (MES, Smart Factory Technologies).
- New Product Introduction (NPI), Automation & Advanced Engineering
- Collaborate with the Corporate PE team on program launches through APQP, PPAP, and Run‑at‑Rate activities.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including automation, robotics, vision systems, and AI technology.
- Lead PFMEA, Control Plans, and Standard Work Instruction development for new products.
- Validate equipment, conduct process capability studies, and pilot builds to ensure manufacturing readiness for SOP.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Promote a Safety First culture and maintain industry leading safety performance.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer‑specific requirements.
- Conduct root‑cause investigations using 8D, 5‑Why, FTA, and Fishbone analysis.
- Implement error‑proofing (poka‑yoke) to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty risks.
- PE Department & Cross‑Functional Team Leadership
- Provide supervisory support and technical leadership for Site Production Engineers.
- Lead cross‑functional teams on the shop floor.
- Interface directly with OEM customers and key suppliers when required.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or other engineering field.
- Experience
- 7+ years in automotive manufacturing, preferably in a Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Direct experience with automated production environments for EV/HEV systems.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
- Effective communication with cross‑functional and global teams.
- Proactive identification of safety risks and drive improvements.
- Knowledge of AIAG standards for automotive manufacturing (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Standard Work).
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills for CFT activities.
- SPC and process capability analysis.
- Experience with Automation, Robotics, Vision Systems, AI technologies, MES Systems, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, launch‑intensive environment.
- Key Performance Indicators
- Safety Performance (OSHA Incident Rate - OIR).
- Customer Concerns (Parts Per Million – PPM).
- Scrap and Defect Reduction (% of Sales $).
- Productivity (Efficiency, OEE – FTQ, Availability, Performance %).
- Throughput improvement (Plan Attainment %, Jobs Per Hour – JPH).
- Successful product launches (on‑time, in‑budget, 0 PPM).
