Job summary

Astemo Ltd. seeks a Production Engineer to drive continuous improvements in manufacturing processes and product launches. You will analyze processes, develop DFMA input, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize quality and efficiency.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, with strong CAD skills and PLC knowledge. This position combines office analysis with hands-on shop floor activities in a plant setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience; automotive manufacturing preferred.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and create blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and 2D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Required to have PLC knowledge such as Omron, Keyence brand.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills. Exhibits ingenuity/creativity regarding problem solving and countermeasure implementation.
  • Experience calculating and analyzing OEE, scrap, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Experience with APQP and ISO 9001 and/or TS 16949 standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Finds problems, plans, and implements improvements for existing product and manufacturing process issues.
  • Develop and maintain document quality system for new and existing programs (PFMEA, control plan, process flow, work instructions, and inspection documents).
  • Performs research, development, evaluation, installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment to meet requirements.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
  • Performs cost-benefit analysis for product and/or manufacturing process cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of building floor space, equipment, and tooling.
  • Performs routine activities accurately and promptly per instructions and procedures.
  • Train Production and Maintenance Associates to improve technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills on the production shop floor.
  • Performs other work as assigned by Management.

Physical Demands

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Combination of office and plant environment. May be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas.
