Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer focused on Product Security to design, assess, and secure our sensor platforms and software ecosystems. You will collaborate with Engineering, Embedded Systems, Infrastructure, and Program teams to integrate security throughout the product lifecycle—from architecture and development to deployment and operations.

The ideal candidate has experience securing complex software and hardware in defense or other regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, product security, or related engineering roles.
• Experience with software security design and secure system architecture principles.
• Hands-on threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessments.
• Knowledge of SSDLC practices and application security concepts.
• Familiarity with RMF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and DFARS.
• Experience supporting security authorization activities such as ATO processes and security documentation (eMASS).
• Security of embedded systems, sensor platforms, or edge computing.
• Knowledge of cryptographic systems and key management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to work in government facilities and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to obtain additional security clearances as required by contract.
• Preferred: Active security clearance; defense/aerospace experience; firmware/TPM/security hardware knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist with secure software and hardware system architectures for mission-critical platforms.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate security throughout the SDLC.
• Lead architecture reviews and identify security risks across software, embedded, and real-time systems.
• Document secure design standards, engineering guidance, and product security practices.
• Support secure development activities including code review, dependencies, secrets management, and remediation.
• Perform threat modeling exercises for software, embedded systems, and hardware platforms.
• Support risk assessments for products and operational environments; map attack surfaces.
• Contribute to RMF/ATO efforts and security documentation development.
• Design security testing activities and coordinate vulnerability remediation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance security with performance.
