Job summary

TÜV SÜD America Inc. in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an experienced Electrical Safety Test Engineer to lead product safety assessments for electrical equipment. You will analyze client inputs, define scope, oversee testing to EN/IEC/UL standards, and report findings.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years' lab experience; strong communication; travel occasionally; onsite work; base pay range $80,000–$100,000 with bonus potential and full benefits.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a laboratory conducting electrical safety testing.
• In-depth knowledge of national and international electrical product safety standards (preferably for EV charging, batteries, energy storage).
• Familiarity with test equipment and applicable standards committees.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and define project specs by analyzing client input and product construction.
• Perform and oversee product assessments and component evaluations at client or TÜV SÜD sites, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Conduct technical file reviews, document findings, and prepare client reports.
• Review product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes, documenting deficiencies.
• Act as intermediary between clients and operating areas throughout project lifecycles.
• Communicate technical issues and project progress with clients and internal teams.
• Lead meetings with clients to discuss project updates and test-specific issues.
• Innovate and develop new testing techniques and procedures as needed.
