Job summary

Pitney Bowes is hiring a Senior Product Researcher to own the research strategy for Shipping and Mailing. You will work with design, product, engineering, data, and GTM to shape direction before requirements are set, using evidence to adapt strategy.

You will lead generative research, define learning agendas, and guide teams on questions to ask, while partnering across roles to understand carriers, costs, and operational realities.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of applied UX or design research experience leading research in complex product areas.
• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, psychology, anthropology, sociology, design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• End-to-end mixed-methods expertise across generative and evaluative work, qualitative and quantitative.
• Ability to query and analyze product data independently using SQL or BI tools and connect it to qualitative findings.
• Experience setting a research agenda and coaching designers or product managers to run sound research.

Responsibilities

• Set the research agenda for the product area: what to learn, when, and why.
• Lead generative research across the product area with participatory sessions.
• Build deep knowledge of shipping and mailing domains, including carriers and costs.
• Own market and audience research, track segment shifts and competitive alternatives.
• Identify jobs, unmet needs, and connect them to product opportunities.
• Design and run evaluative studies across the product lifecycle with appropriate fidelity.
• Define success metrics and hold teams accountable to outcomes.
• Study AI-assisted experiences and assess transparency and trust.
• Synthesize findings into a coherent narrative for leadership and across products.
• Mentor less-experienced researchers and improve research practice.
