Job summary

onsemi is seeking a Product Quality Engineer to join the Corporate Quality team. This hands-on, customer-facing role partners with Product & Test Engineering, Customer Quality, Central Engineering, and Manufacturing & Operations for Analog Mixed Signal products.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in semiconductor product quality or related roles, with strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills, and experience with EFAR/8D/PPAP/APQP/PCN and customer quality management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years in Product Quality Engineering or a comparable role in the semiconductor industry (e.g. Reliability, Product Test, Failure Analysis or Product Engineering).
• Good knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication, package assembly and testing with familiarity of fail mechanisms and symptoms.
• Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence and negotiate across internal and external environments across worldwide time zones.
• Experience with EFAR, 8D, PPAP, APQP, PCN, and customer quality management.
• Experience supporting automotive, industrial, power management, mixed-signal, or analog semiconductor products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Product Quality responsibility from qualification through production release to end of life. Become and be the subject matter expert regarding a product’s quality.
• Serve as the quality focal point for assigned product families and technology platforms.
• Establish quality strategies, risk mitigation plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive improvement through safe launch and analysis of customer returns to identify weaknesses and propose systemic solutions.
• Engage with Analog Mixed Signal business unit and manufacturing to resolve challenges and meet quality goals.
• Support sustaining product engineering activities including yield excursions and quality issues.
• Collaborate with Test Engineering to improve test coverage, guard-banding, screening strategy, and defect detection capability.
• Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify quality and reliability risks.
• Support statistical analysis of production data to drive yield and quality improvements.
• Be a key member of cross-functional global 8D teams to ensure expedient resolution of customer quality issues.
