Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking a rigorous, curious Product Performance Engineer to own the performance of our Linear Generator. Reporting directly to the VP of Test Engineering, you will combine hands-on experimental work with in-depth data analysis to characterize, understand, and improve all aspects of the Linear Generators performance with emphasis on power output, efficiency, and emissions profiles.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in thermodynamics/power generation and applying it to real hardware and data.
• Excellent data analysis skills in Python (pandas, NumPy, SciPy) and large datasets.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing experiments with instrumentation and emissions testing.

Responsibilities

• Own measurement and tracking of product performance against PRD targets.
• Identify gaps between measured performance and targets and drive cross-functional efforts to close them.
• Design and execute experiments on test units with instrumentation and data collection.
• Build and maintain Python-based analysis tools and pipelines to process large datasets and identify trends.
• Apply first-principles thermodynamics and heat release analysis to explain observed performance.
• Communicate results to design teams and make data-driven recommendations.
• Develop and improve test methods and instrumentation for next-generation products.
