Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking an open-minded, curious, and highly motivated R&D Test Engineer to design and execute tests on the Linear Generator, focusing on electrical and software changes to enhance capabilities and performance.

You will lead sub-system and system-level validation tests for new releases, gaining exposure to electrical, mechanical, software, and controls components in a fast-paced product environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or equivalent with 3+ years of applicable experience.
• Experience designing and executing tests in an industrial or academic environment, specifically involving instrumentation and data analysis.
• Successful communicator with a collaborative mindset interfacing across teams.
• Proficiency in programming with Python, Matlab, or C++ (at least one).
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on work with technicians to troubleshoot, retrofit, and operate Linear Generator test units.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to steer R&D projects by designing and executing experiments.
• Analyze data, generate reports and communicate results with engineering teams.
• Manage test priorities daily to meet deadlines with focus on throughput and high-value studies.
• Develop and improve processes and infrastructure to support testing on next-generation products.
