Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Product Owner SME to support mission-critical software modernization efforts for Air Force and USSTRATCOM/J56. The role focuses on backlog management, requirements maturation, and senior-leader decision support for SMPES capability delivery.

The position is full-time and on-site at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, with travel up to 10%. Candidates must be US citizens with TS/SCI clearance and a Bachelor's degree, and bring substantial DoD or defense software experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience translating operational needs into written requirements, use cases, and workflows.
• Proven ability to brief senior leaders and produce concise decision-support materials.

Responsibilities

• Define and prioritize product backlogs in collaboration with users and stakeholders.
• Translate operational needs into clear use case diagrams, activity diagrams, and scenarios.
• Coordinate with users, requirements managers, program managers, and development teams to clarify requirements and priorities.
• Elicit requirements from users, operators, and PMO personnel with a focus on capability delivery.
• Lead or support backlog reviews, sprint planning, and release-planning activities.
• Ensure alignment between mission goals, priorities, and technical execution.
• Track progress of features and communicate status to senior leadership.
