Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Payments based in the United States. We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead payment product development across travel transactions and subscription billing. In this remote-first role, you will drive the execution of a strategic payments roadmap while collaborating with engineering, data, finance, and commercial teams. You will oversee a cross-functional team, translating business objectives into clear requirements and actionable product priorities. Your work will directly influence payment authorization rates, transaction reliability, processing costs, and customer experiences. You will use data-driven insights and experimentation to optimize payment performance and support international expansion. This is an opportunity to shape scalable payment solutions in a fast-growing technology environment, with significant ownership and the ability to influence outcomes through strong product leadership.

Accountabilities
  • Own payments roadmap execution: Collaborate with payments leadership to develop the roadmap for your area, prioritize the team's backlog, and recommend strategic adjustments based on performance data and emerging opportunities.
  • Define product requirements: Create detailed product requirement documents and business specifications that address transaction flows, failure scenarios, reconciliation impacts, technical dependencies, and scope boundaries.
  • Lead cross-functional delivery: Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the payments mission-aligned team, facilitate planning and team rituals, manage priorities, remove blockers, and ensure delivery remains aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Optimize payment performance: Design and evaluate routing and retry experiments to improve authorization rates, reduce transaction costs, and increase successful payment completion.
  • Support international expansion: Research local payment methods, market requirements, and regional payment capabilities, translating findings into actionable requirements for new-market launches.
  • Drive data-informed decisions: Analyze authorization rates, decline patterns, transaction costs, and settlement performance to identify improvement opportunities and communicate recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across business functions: Partner with engineering, fraud prevention, disputes, data, finance, and commercial teams to improve payment experiences and balance transaction success, operational reliability, and profitability.
  • Contribute to financial reporting: Support monthly payments reporting by tracking delivery progress, measuring performance against targets, and communicating upcoming priorities.
  • Monitor industry developments: Track payment regulations, security requirements, card network rules, strong customer authentication (SCA), and alternative payment method adoption to assess their impact on product strategy.
Requirements
  • Professional experience: At least 5 years of product management experience, including a minimum of 1 year working with payments, fintech, checkout, or billing products.
  • Payments expertise: Working knowledge of modern payment infrastructure, including gateways, processors, acquirers, tokenization, and alternative payment methods.
  • Transaction lifecycle knowledge: Understanding of one-time payment flows, including authorization holds, delayed capture, and settlement, or recurring billing mechanisms such as payment retries, dunning, and stored payment credentials, with an eagerness to develop expertise across both models.
  • End-to-end product delivery: Demonstrated success delivering product features from requirements and prioritization through engineering collaboration, launch, and performance evaluation.
  • Strong product management skills: Ability to write clear specifications, establish priorities, define scope, communicate trade-offs, and translate business goals into practical product solutions.
  • Technical and analytical capabilities: Confidence working with engineers on technical decisions and using performance data to identify trends, evaluate experiments, and recommend improvements.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, influencing stakeholders without direct reporting authority, maintaining execution momentum, and escalating significant risks or trade-offs appropriately.
  • Communication and adaptability: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a proactive and resourceful mindset, and the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional advantages: Experience launching payment products in international markets, particularly APAC, the European Economic Area (EEA), or Latin America (LATAM); familiarity with high-volume consumer businesses, travel, marketplaces, or e-commerce payment flows; and exposure to disputes and chargeback data.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation: For US-based candidates, an annual base salary range of $124,000-$180,000 USD , depending on location, skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely with the freedom to choose working hours that support productivity and work-life balance.
  • Equity and performance incentives: Access to equity options and an annual bonus program.
  • Retirement benefits: Retirement savings plans with employer matching.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Access to competitive benefits packages, including medical coverage.
  • Flexible time off: Unlimited paid time off and company-wide recharge days.
  • Team connection: Annual team offsites that encourage collaboration and relationship-building.
  • Everyday perks: Weekly food delivery credits and travel discounts.
  • Family support: Generous parental leave and a flexible return-to-work plan.
  • Wellness and development: Wellness budgets, personal development funds, and team-level learning resources.
  • Inclusive workplace: Equal employment opportunities and accommodations for candidates participating in the recruitment process.
