Job summary

Shift5 is seeking a Senior Product Manager to define what we build and why, guiding data pipeline, API, and SDK products from concept to adoption. You will own strategy, collaborate with engineers, and drive cross-functional initiatives across forward-deployed teams, with occasional customer-site engagement.

You will report to the Head of Product, shaping end-to-end product lifecycles and delivering high-impact solutions for observability in OT, defense, and commercial fleets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of product management experience building technical products for engineer users.
• 3+ years of data integration engineering using a major programming language (Python, GoLang, Rust, Java).
• Proven experience building data integration products from scratch, including requirements gathering, design, planning, and implementation.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, API design, and writing clear technical documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ownership mindset.
• Location: Rosslyn, Virginia HQ at least 3 days per week, with travel to customer sites 3–4 times per year.

Responsibilities

• Define product strategy, vision, roadmaps, and delivery timelines for on-vehicle and off-vehicle data pipelines, APIs, and SDKs.
• Own the on-time, on-budget shipping of product value; draft clear problem statements and collaborate with engineers to design and execute solutions.
• Synthesize signals from forward-deployed teams into product direction and continuous improvements.
• Interface with Field Engineers and 3rd-party developers to iterate on data pipelines, APIs, and SDKs; travel to customer sites as needed.
• Build and present product demos to internal and external stakeholders to show how features deliver operational value.
• Write and maintain comprehensive product documentation informed by hands-on use of products.
