Job description

Everyone is welcome at Handshake. We know diverse teams build better products and we are committed to creating an inclusive culture built on a foundation of respect for all individuals. We strongly encourage candidates from non-traditional backgrounds, historically marginalized or underrepresented groups to apply.

Your impact

Handshake is hiring a Senior Product Manager to help us deliver a world-class consumer experience. More than half of college students in the US have a profile on Handshake, but they primarily use the platform as a transactional job board. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team to develop a roadmap that helps students grow their careers through content and community, transforming Handshake into Gen Z’s professional social network.

Ultimately, we believe Handshake can give every student access to the career-defining power of a supportive community, and we need your help to make that happen!

Your role

  • Lead one of several high-impact product areas central to our vision of building Gen Z’s professional social network. You may own the end-to-end mobile experience, driving platform-wide strategy and adoption; oversee people search and discovery, connecting students to peers, mentors, and communities that accelerate their careers; or lead onboarding and activation, ensuring students experience early value and form lasting habits on Handshake. The exact scope will depend on your strengths, interests, and our evolving roadmap — but all of these areas are critical to our mission of helping students grow their careers through content and community.
  • Product Strategy: Ensure your squads have a cohesive and differentiated product strategy aligned with the Content & Community team and company strategy.
  • Leadership: Represent your squad and product area to executives, translating company-wide strategies into your roadmap. Inspire your team with a clear product vision.
  • Goal Setting: Set clear goals for your squads, ensuring effective progress tracking towards their strategy.
  • Planning and Execution: Lead your team and stakeholders in prioritizing and collaborating on the roadmap, ensuring alignment with relevant stakeholders. Exercise influence on adjacent product areas and organization-wide strategy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other leaders in the Content & Community team (design, marketing, engineering, data) and with leaders in other lines of business (e.g., Career Events, Paid Employer offerings) to ensure cohesive strategy and execution.

Your Experience

  • Customer expert: Deep understanding of customer needs, prioritizing them based on data and research.
  • Marketplace fluent: Ability to think holistically across user types and incentives to create successful end-to-end products.
  • Strong systems and analytical thinker: Capable of connecting dots, identifying challenges, and integrating multiple considerations.
  • Experience launching and managing a consumer social product with 1M+ active users.
  • Expertise in using data for tactical and strategic decision-making, goal setting, and rapid iteration.

Bonus areas of expertise

  • Experience leading the development and launch of new, "zero to one" consumer products.
  • Experience managing a consumer product with 10MM+ users.

Compensation Range

  • $200,000-$240,000
