Our team is passionate about challenging the status quo of the credit industry by providing people accessible tools to take control of their credit. Executing on our mission requires deep collaboration across our teams to ensure our products reach the people who can benefit from them the most, particularly the 100 million+ Americans who have no or low credit.

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. To that end, we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.

Who You Are:

You have strong empathy for customers and a drive to identify and address their needs. You’ll rely on your strong research skills to hone in on the problem space, understand the competition, and discover differentiated experiences we can bring to market. You thrive in a fast-paced, fast-growing start-up environment and you can balance time-to-market vs. quality decisions easily. You’re experienced working across several types of stakeholders and you leverage and work with them to elevate the product. As a seasoned PM you are curious about how the product is built and you push your engineering team to think with you two steps ahead. You have a passion for our mission of helping people to build credit and save money.

About the Role:

The Senior Product Manager will support existing products and lead new product launches within Self’s Borrow & Spend product area. This individual will focus on improving user experiences, increasing activation and acquisition, building innovation in the credit card space, and maintaining stability and compliance. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Product Management, this role will be central to achieving our goal of enabling a best-in-class credit building toolkit and delivering credit building success to Self Financial’s customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead initiatives tied to the Borrow & Spend portfolio, with a focus on the core product offering and the customer experience both in app and on web, while driving innovation in the credit & lending space.
  • Communicate the product vision and strategy across the company and frame the product roadmap and priorities in that vision.
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on features and services, specifically how our card products work and how they positively impact both credit scores and credit access. Communicate intricacies with Execs and colleagues.
  • Inform product decisions with quantitative and qualitative data. Familiarity with a/b testing, survey data, and usability studies is required.
  • Help drive execution with the engineering team to prioritize competing tactical and strategic items into a backlog. Drive planning, story prioritization and product backlog grooming.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, marketing, engineering, design, analytics and operations teams to build software collaboratively and inclusively.
  • Contribute to technical design and architecture by challenging engineering to find innovative and efficient solutions. Champion product quality and improvement.
  • Maintain an awareness of major industry trends, competitive feature landscape and developing appropriate prioritization.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on developing customer facing products and solutions in both web and native apps.
  • Experience leading a product independently; balancing strategy, customer, and business outcomes.
  • Experience documenting requirements, user stories, and specifications with business teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Tactical mindset on leveraging qualitative and quantitative data with strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Competence in SQL is a plus.
  • Previous experience in card and/or lending products is a plus.

Base salary range - $114,000-152,000/year. Individual pay is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and other job-related reasons.
