Job summary

The City of New York's Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) is hiring a Senior IT Architect to design, oversee, and deliver enterprise‑scale architectures for public-facing products and internal systems in Brooklyn. You will work with product managers, designers, engineers, policy teams, and legal counsel to translate complex rules into scalable, reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or related field is required.
• Ten years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship applications end-to-end across frontend, backend, mobile, or data pipelines.
• Move quickly through rapid prototyping, MVP iteration, pilot, and public launch with pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Build integrations with government data sources, including modern APIs, open data portals, and legacy systems.
• Partners with product managers, designers, engineers, and other OTI employees on day-to-day product decisions and scoping.
• Coordinate with hosting, performance testing, accessibility audits, and security reviews to meet city quality standards.
• Translate complex eligibility rules into clear product logic and write clear technical documentation.
