Job summary

OpenGov seeks a Senior Product Engineer to drive growth of OG Assist, an AI-native government platform. This hands-on role owns outcomes from discovery to production code and collaborates with customers, UX, and engineering to deliver impactful features.

You will write production code, review work, and set product direction in a fast-paced AI-first environment, delivering measurable improvements for local and state governments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–9 years in product ownership and hands-on software engineering.
• Proven track record shipping production SaaS code.
• Experience with TypeScript and React stack.
• Experience building with or on top of LLMs/AI agents.
• Strong ability to own projects end-to-end and guide peers.

Responsibilities

• Refine and communicate OG Assist product vision based on customer research and market signals.
• Own the product roadmap; prioritize and publicly justify decisions.
• Design and build features end-to-end; write production code.
• Define UX flows within the design system and implement them.
• Write clear intent documents for AI tooling and review AI-generated specs and code.
• Set technical direction and make build-vs-buy decisions without bottlenecking other engineers.
• Track adoption and business outcomes to drive iteration.
• Represent the product in customer conversations and executive reviews.
