Job summary

Semaphore is seeking a senior product engineer to take an idea from ambiguity to a production-ready product. You will work across product and engineering boundaries, shaping solutions, making architectural decisions, and delivering reliable software with AI-assisted workflows.

You will own end-to-end outcomes, collaborate with users and stakeholders, and navigate Go, Elixir, Ruby, and React-based ecosystems while maintaining a high bar for quality and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping meaningful software products or major product capabilities.
• Strong product judgment to identify essential user problems and trim scope.
• Strong engineering judgment across system design, reliability, and maintainability.
• Solid backend and systems fundamentals including APIs, asynchronous processing, service boundaries, state and lifecycle management, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
• Comfort with infrastructure concepts (VMs, storage, networking, authentication, secrets, containers, cloud).
• Ability to work in a polyglot environment (Go, Elixir, Ruby, React, etc.).
• Frontend capability to extend focused product experiences without depending on a separate team.

Responsibilities

• Take product ideas from problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and iteration, including experiments that may grow into standalone products.
• Work directly with users and stakeholders to identify the real problem and decide what to build.
• Build across backend services, APIs, infrastructure components, and focused frontend experiences.
• Use AI coding agents effectively while maintaining high standards for correctness and security.
• Own the production outcome including reliability, observability, and security compliance.
