Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer to contribute to product design, testing, data analysis, and project management for water-cooled chillers. You will support manufacturing and sustaining activities, initiating design changes, and presenting results to engineering and product management teams.

Responsibilities include testing programs, documenting technical results, and ensuring on-time program completion. Travel to domestic and international sites will be <10% and collaboration with multiple teams is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related science required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a related field.
• Proficient with organizing and processing large amounts of data.
• Experience with product development and sustaining of configurable systems.

• Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of water-cooled chillers.

• Proficient with mechanical design and able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.
• Applies mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME.
• Collaborates with design and manufacturing teams to balance cost, performance, and reliability.
• Coordinates and helps execute test programs to validate performance and reliability of mechanical systems and components.
• Analyses, designs, modifies and troubleshoots mechanical sub-systems based on test data.
• Generates and reviews technical documentation for the product team.
• Occasional domestic and international travel (<10%).
• Teamwork across global product development environment; pursue continual improvement.

Responsibility Level:

The Sr. Engineer is responsible to contribute to the product team through product design, testing, data analysis, and project management. The Sr. Engineer will also support the manufacturing and sustaining of the product including initiating and executing design changes. All of these tasks also require strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present information to engineering teammates, engineering managers, and product management.

Principal Duties (as related to functional responsibilities):

• Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of water-cooled chillers


• Contributes to the on-time completion of programs and regularly reports on the status of projects


• Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product


• Applies mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME


• Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams in generating layout concepts and system configurations that consider the best balance of cost, performance, and reliability.


• Coordinate and help execute test programs to validate performance and reliability of mechanical systems and components


• Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data


• Generate and review technical documentation for use within the product team


• Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%)

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $107,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflectsthe target compensation for this role.
