Job summary

NVIDIA is looking for an experienced Operations NPI Product Development Engineer in Santa Clara to take products from engineering concepts to high-volume datacenter platforms deployed at cloud scale. You will own the manufacturing, test, and failure analysis/recovery process for new servers and assemblies.

The role requires 12+ years in electrical engineering, hands-on design/manufacture of compute hardware (CPUs/GPUs/HBMs), Linux diagnostics, strong communication, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• BS/MS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in design and manufacture of complex compute or networking hardware.
• Knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, HBMs and interconnects (Ethernet, PCIe, I2C, SPI).
• Proficient with Linux, diagnostics, and log analysis in factory settings.
• Strong communication and collaboration across global teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver manufacturing, test, and failure analysis/recovery for new datacenter servers and assemblies.
• Collaborate with HW/FW/SW engineering, manufacturing partners, and other operations groups.
• Develop product development plans and provide DFX feedback for quality.
• Work with factory teams on prototype builds, collect metrics, and report status.
• Define and implement process improvements from data analysis.
• Review build dashboards for throughput, yields, and failures.
• Debug server platforms, perform rework/retest, and publish status/reports.
• Create SOPs/documentation for assembly, test, and failure analysis.
• Coordinate with contract manufacturers' FA and test teams to ensure smooth operations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Our team owns, develops and delivers the Manufacturing, Test, and Failure Analysis/recovery process for new datacenter servers and assemblies incorporating the latest NVIDIAs GPU, CPU, and high speed interconnect technologies. Your work will lead to the development of the product during the NPI phase and successful hand off and enablement of high volume production.
• Collaborate with a multi-functional group of HW/FW/SW engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and other operations groups such as program management and product quality engineering.
• Develop and implement comprehensive product development plans that will result in high quality products. Participate in Design for Manufacturing / Test (DFX) process and reviews. Provide DFX feedback that results in excellent product quality.
• Work closely with factory personnel and engineering teams during prototype/validation builds, driving solutions to day-to-day problems, collecting metrics and reporting status.
• Work with operations teams to define and implement process improvements, based on data collection and analysis.
• Reviewing build dashboards to analyze latest throughput, yields and failures.
• Debugging server platforms as per published guidelines. Performing minor rework, retesting and recovering units.
• Publishing clear daily status and build reports. Develop documentation and SOPs for product assembly, test, debug/failure analysis for internal teams, contract manufacturers or external customers.
• Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers Failure Analysis, Test Engineers and Operators to ensure smooth running of factory assembly and test operations.

What We Need To See

• BS/MS or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years of relevant work experience.
• Proven skills and experience in design and manufacture of complex compute or networking hardware platforms. Knowledgeable about major components such as : CPUs, GPUs, HBMs, and system interfaces/interconnects such as Ethernet, PCIe, I2C, SPI etc.
• Strong ability to diagnose and rationally solve problems on complex hardware platforms.
• Familiar with diagnostics/test software as used in a factory setting.
• Familiarity with Linux command line, running commands, reviewing outputs.
• Ability to review logfiles and make initial triage decisions based on documentation provided by the Engineering Team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for collaborating with global matrixed teams and developing clear documentation and reports.
• A high-energy, proactive self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability to drive critical tasks and projects through to completion.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, typically 2-3 times per quarter

• Prior board/system level electrical design experience.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 200,000 USD - 322,000 USD.
