Qualifications

• Experience translating ambiguous enterprise customer needs into actionable design specifications.
• Strong judgment on when AI should automate vs. present UI.
• Prototyping skills to validate design directions with interactive prototypes.
• Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and prompt engineering.
• Ability to leverage AI tools for rapid iterations and comparisons.
• Fluency in extending and maintaining a component-based design system.
• Customer research focus with ability to translate insights into design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for features across Degreed's platform and related data layers.
• Lead customer calls or obtain direct feedback to shape design and product sense.
• Continuously push for improvements in quality, usability, and UX.
• Extend and maintain Degreed's design system; decide when new components are justified.
• Audit admin surfaces and workflows to improve consistency as the product grows.
• Decide, for new workflows, what UI is needed vs. AI-enabled, observable and auditable.
• Design conversational and agent-facing experiences alongside traditional UI.
• Collaborate with product and tech leads to scope work and define requirements.
• Present work in design reviews and incorporate cross-functional feedback.
