Location: Remote or Hybrid in 51 Madison Ave, NYC

What makes us stand out
  • As an award-winning Fortune 100 Company, diversity and humanity are deeply rooted values in our company culture. We are vocal advocates for a supportive and inclusive work culture that inspires our employees to do meaningful, life-changing work. We believe there is a wealth of knowledge we can learn from one another, and that together, we can enact real-world change.
  • When you join us, you're joining a company that values career development, collaboration, innovation, and inclusiveness. We want employees to feel proud about being part of a company that is committed to doing the right thing. You'll have the opportunity to grow your career while developing personally and professionally through various resources and programs.
  • Our agentic AI platform, designed to give our insurance agents a single point of entry to the tools and information they rely on every day. By orchestrating data from across the agent tool ecosystem and adding a meaningful layer of AI, it helps agents work more efficiently, gain deeper insight into their clients and business, and spend more time doing what matters most: serving the families and businesses who count on us. In this role, you will help design, contributing to a platform that is transforming how our agents work.
About the role

As a contract Product Designer on the our team, you'll join a cross-functional squad to ship clear, consistent, and customer-centered experiences in an agile sprint cadence. As an individual contributor, you'll turn problem statements and user stories into prototypes using agentic design tooling and Madi, our Figma-based enterprise design system.

Reporting to the Director of Product Design and working day to day with the Lead Product Designer, you'll focus on detailed design through production handoff. This includes taking features through high-fidelity, dev-ready screens, then staying with them through build and QA so what ships matches what was designed. You'll support a continuous roadmap of new features and enhancements across web and/or mobile, helping simplify complex workflows for our users.

What you'll do
  • Detailed design and handoffs
  • Turn ambiguous problems into clear flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity prototypes, grounded in user needs, business goals, and platform constraints.
  • Create production prototypes engineers can build without guessing: component usage, states, responsive behavior, content guidance, accessibility notes, and edge cases (errors, empty states, loading, and recovery).
  • Leverage and extend the design system. Contribute shared components, patterns, and documentation so screens are consistent, scalable, and fast to build.
  • Own visual and design QA. Review builds, log defects, and partner with engineers to resolve them before release so we ship what we intended.
  • Support the roadmap
  • Support a continuous roadmap of new features and enhancements across concurrent sprints.
  • Design and refine core workflows (e.g., navigation, dashboards, servicing tasks, forms, document and data review, and key decision points) across web and/or mobile.
  • Work from analytics, usability feedback, support drivers, and stakeholder input to identify friction, prioritize fixes and enhancements, and translate findings into designs that move the numbers.
  • Keep specs, documentation, and pattern libraries current as grows so the team can move faster with each release.
  • Drive design delivery in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) context
  • Collaborate daily with Product Owners/Managers, Engineering, and Implementation teams to shape sprint plans (refinement, sprint planning, and retros), drive alignment and decisions, and keep design ahead of development.
  • Manage your workload across concurrent sprints, balancing near-term production work with design for upcoming enhancements.
  • Respond quickly to questions during build, unblock engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs without compromising quality.
  • Ship for outcomes, not output
  • Track and communicate the impact of design decisions after launch (e.g., task success, time-to-complete, adoption, and user satisfaction) and use them to shape enhancements.
  • Advocate for the customer in cross-functional discussions, using evidence to align stakeholders on the right problems to solve.
  • Contribute to co-creation and a culture of design quality by joining working sessions (story mapping, journey mapping, design studios, and critique) and partnering with the Lead Product Designer and design peers to keep a high quality bar.
  • You should have
  • Portfolio required: Please include a portfolio or case studies as a document or link with your resume when applying (including any passwords). Please do not use Dropbox or other file-sharing tools we cannot access.
Experience
  • 5+ years of digital product design experience, with a track record of shipping high-quality, production-ready work across product types (e.g., responsive web, apps, portals, workflow tools).
  • Strong detailed design skills: high-fidelity UI, design systems, responsive and multi-breakpoint design, and detailed developer handoff.
  • Experience supporting a product after launch, iterating on live features through a continuous roadmap of enhancements.
  • Experience designing in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams; comfortable moving from concept to delivery and staying through QA.
  • Experience presenting work to senior stakeholders and clearly articulating and defending design decisions.
  • Experience designing complex, structured systems such as dashboards, portals, data-heavy workflows, and form-based experiences.
SKILLS
  • Strong command of interaction design, visual design, and UX writing collaboration.
  • Experience with AI-augmented design workflows (e.g., Figma AI, Claude Design, ChatGPT, NotebookLM) with measurable efficiency gains; able to review AI-generated outputs for quality and compliance and lead AI toolset adoption across the team.
  • Expert in Figma: components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and Dev Mode handoff. Comfortable with Adobe Creative Suite and collaborative whiteboarding tools (e.g., FigJam, Miro).
  • Familiarity with technical architecture concepts (service-oriented architecture, micro-services, data models) and front-end basics (HTML, CSS).
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Comfortable using qualitative + quantitative inputs to prioritize and iterate on live features.
  • Strong communication skills; able to align cross-functional collaborators and give engineers clear, actionable direction.
  • Meticulous attention to detail across states, edge cases, and content, with a pragmatic sense of what to ship now versus later.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, HCI) or equivalent practical experience.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience in life insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries designing complex application or servicing experiences.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features (e.g., personalized recommendations or assistive guidance) with attention to Responsible AI and privacy-by-design practices.
  • Experience shipping designs across a range of front ends (e.g., content management systems, low/no-code platforms, framework-based front ends, native apps).
  • Experience with experimentation (A/B testing), personalization, and optimization of key journeys (adoption, task completion, and engagement).
  • Advocates for accessibility best practices, with deep knowledge of ADA compliance and WCAG guidelines, and experience embedding them into design solutions.
