Job summary

Astec is seeking an experienced engineer to lead product design and development, partnering with cross-functional teams from concept to production. You will drive design for manufacturability, oversee 3D CAD models and drafting, and ensure documentation is current and accurate.

Successful candidates will have a strong engineering background, 6+ years of experience, and a track record of influencing teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years of engineering experience required.
• Experience in design for manufacture and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute the Product Design and Development (PDD) process to ensure product definitions and specifications are met by all stakeholders.
• Participate in product design meetings including product specifications, material selection, 3D CAD models, and detailed 2D drawings.
• Collaborate as a member of cross-functional project teams from concept to testing, and ultimately to production.
• Conduct design for manufacture assessments involving manufacturing expertise to ensure final design supports lean manufacturing concepts, build quantity, cost, and performance.
• Develop design concepts to meet cost objectives and interface with vendors to locate and approve components.
• Administer design history and practice proper engineering document control processes; ensure drawings are up to date.
• Work toward identifying commonality in design to assist with manufacturing standardization.
• Present findings and reports on design analyses; communicate with non-technical audiences.
