Job summary

Astec is seeking a seasoned engineer to execute design projects, validate concepts, and develop technical products for manufacturing. Under general supervision you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure specifications meet cost, quality, and production goals.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 6+ years of engineering experience, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Inventor), and proven ability to lead teams and manage projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of engineering experience with a focus on design and development.
• Ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and drive change.
• Strong CAD skills and experience with manufacturing-focused design.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute the Product Design and Development (PDD) process to ensure product definitions and specifications are met by all stakeholders.
• Participate in product design meetings with specifications, materials, 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams from concept to testing and production.
• Conduct design-for-manufacture assessments to support lean manufacturing, cost, and performance targets.
• Develop design concepts to meet cost objectives and interface with suppliers to qualify components.
• Maintain design history and ensure up-to-date engineering documentation.
• Promote manufacturing standardization by identifying common design elements.
• Prepare reports of design analyses and present findings to stakeholders.
• Respond to Root Cause Analyses and corrective actions related to design issues.
• Support total project completion within management expectations and deadlines.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment and follow 6S principles.
