Job summary

Astigated role with Astec in Chattanooga, Tennessee seeks an experienced design engineer to lead the Product Design and Development process. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive design for manufacture decisions, and ensure CAD models and drawings meet standards.

The position requires a strong engineering background, leadership, and the ability to influence decisions across suppliers and internal stakeholders. This on-site role emphasizes safety, quality, and Lean principles.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent.
• 6+ Years of Engineering experience required.
• Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
• Take on complex engineering projects while balancing project management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to influence, lead teams, and drive change.
• Efficient and accurate work to keep pace with engineering, sales and production requirements.
• Flexible and adaptable in prioritizing workloads under pressure and deadlines.
• Proven results with creating and maintaining engineering design standards and drawing standards.
• Ability to attract and retain engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute the Product Design and Development (PDD) process to meet stakeholder definitions.
• Participate in product design meetings including specs, material selection, 3D CAD models, and drawings.
• Collaborate on cross-functional project teams from concept to testing and production.
• Conduct design for manufacture assessments to support lean manufacturing, cost and performance.
• Develop design concepts to meet cost objectives and interface with vendors to approve components.
• Administer design history and proper engineering document control.
• Identify design commonality to aid manufacturing standardization.
• Prepare and present findings; generate and file design analysis reports.
• Respond promptly to Root Cause Analysis and Corrective action requests relating to design or warranty issues.
• Assist peers to complete total projects by management expectations and deadlines.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
• Wear PPE per guidelines and maintain workspace cleanliness per 6S.
