Job summary

Vallen Distribution is seeking a Buyer Team Lead to mentor and train other buyers, manage procurement for stock and non-stock items, and ensure timely, cost-effective supply. You will coordinate team schedules, monitor performance, and oversee procurement processes across multiple centers and vendors.

Candidates should bring 5+ years in procurement, a related degree, CPM (preferred), and solid experience with WMS and ERP systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, etc.) or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in the field of Procurement preferred.
CPM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Train, coach, and mentor assigned company buyers; provide input into performance evaluations.
Coordinate vacation/leave schedules for the team.
Keep the Purchasing leadership team abreast of daily activities; actively communicate.
Identify and document best practices within the function; keep standard operating procedures current and relevant.
Perform root cause analysis on escalated issues; define and oversee the implementation of root cause corrective action plans.
Track and monitor team KPI initiatives; devise course corrections as required.
Lead special projects as assigned.
Perform procurement activities to ensure the organization's current and anticipated demand for products and materials is met; review GAINS-based forecasts and replenishments.
Research, assess, and make recommendations for vendors to meet specs and value standards.
Request and evaluate bids, quotations, and proposals for products and materials of request.
Negotiate prices/terms within authority limits; secure favorable conditions.
Monitor quality and timeliness of supplied products; coordinate returns if needed.
Coordinate vendor returns for aging/excess inventory; support liquidation activities.
Follow-up on purchase orders and update customers on status.
