Job summary

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System is seeking an Assistant Manager of Procurement (Professional Services and Commodities) to lead a procurement team across rolling stock, IT, finance, marketing, revenue, maintenance and other commodities. The role requires expert knowledge of complex procurements, regulatory guidelines, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of purchasing management principles and government procurement practices.
• Ability to evaluate vendors and manage contracts.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with bid processes and contracting.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar procurement systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee acquisition of rolling stock, IT, services and commodities in compliance with regulations.
• Provide daily supervision and guidance to procurement staff.
• Manage end-to-end procurements from solicitations to contract execution.
• Prepare solicitation documents and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align procurement plans.
