Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Webster, TX is seeking a seasoned Buyer III to lead complex procurement activities. You will ensure requisitions align with contracts, pricing, and terms, while guiding policy interpretation and supporting process improvements.

Responsibilities include reviewing high-value purchase requests, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating with departments and vendors, and mentoring junior buyers to strengthen the university's purchasing program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, health care administration, supply chain, or related field with 2 years procurement experience.
• Must obtain CPSM, CPPB, CPPO, CTCM or equivalent within 18 months of appointment.
• Proficiency with procurement systems and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve complex, high-value requisitions for alignment with contracts and pricing.
• Verify compliance with UTMB, state, federal procurement rules and internal policies.
• Coordinate with departments and vendors to clarify needs and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify procurement issues and escalate risks affecting timelines or policy compliance.
• Provide clarification on PO terms and vendor obligations to stakeholders and suppliers.
• Maintain auditable records of requisitions and purchase orders.
• Mentor junior buyers and support process improvement initiatives.
