Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Procurement Category Manager to lead assigned projects, programs, and sourcing categories. You will oversee strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, and execution to achieve annual savings targets between $5M and $20M, handling categories with annual spend from $100M to $700M for materials and services.

The role requires advanced expertise in developing, negotiating, and maintaining strategic sourcing agreements, with strong analytical and leadership

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field of study.
MBA or Purchasing certification is preferred but not required.
6+ years supply chain experience.
Advanced negotiations and ability to execute complex business transactions.
Must have strong analytical, teamwork and communication skills.
Must be able to work with all levels of internal management and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

Manage project-driven sourcing activities for a variety of market baskets with high spend and impact across multiple business units.
Develop and implement strategies to achieve corporate savings goals.
Establish relationships with Business Unit customers and suppliers to maintain satisfaction.
Interface with Business Unit leadership to report progress to goals.
Champion initiatives that support shared objectives and enable efficient operations.
