Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a procurement strategy intern to support negotiation prep, contract analysis, and supplier performance tracking. You will help structure data-driven recommendations, work with cross-functional teams, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives while gaining exposure to Walmart supplier ecosystems.

The role emphasizes data modelling, analytics, and process improvement, with guidance on best practices for sourcing and vendor management in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Summer 2026 Walmart or Sam’s Club internship.
• Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.
• Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, economics, technology, or related field.
• Option 2: 2 years’ experience in procurement strategy, contract management, analytics, or related field.
• Preferred: Data modelling, data analytics, and data management.
• Preferred: Experience in procurement, including strategic sourcing processes and reporting.
• Preferred: Microsoft Office - Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compile information and data for negotiations.
• Engage in negotiations and communicate positions, drivers, levers, and desired outcomes.
• Extract and analyze contracts using contract management tools and other sources.
• Identify contract components, validate them against standard templates, and highlight risks.
• Identify, classify, segment, and assess suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and SLAs, create reports, and share with stakeholders.
• Maintain operational supplier relationships and respond to supplier queries.
• Escalate complex supply issues for resolution.
• Identify savings opportunities and make recommendations for less-complex categories.
• Support category segmentation and build total cost of ownership cleansheet models.
• Prepare potential supplier lists and conduct low-dollar or catalog sourcing activities.
• Support suppliers and internal stakeholders during sourcing events.
• Manage bid questions and execute basic RFx activities.
• Present data-informed results and recommendations to teams and business partners.
• Use fact-finding and diagnostic tools to solve business problems and anticipate roadblocks.
• Analyze, organize, and improve data collection and procurement processes.
• Identify automation and technology improvements and apply data science techniques.
• Analyze business and financial data and support business plans and financial goals.
• Build stakeholder relationships, monitor results, and implement business solutions.
• Model compliance with company policies, ethics, and integrity standards.
• Promote respect, collaboration, inclusion, customer focus, continuous improvement, and adoption of digital tools.
