Job summary

MSD is seeking a senior Process Safety Management (PSM) leader to direct program governance across West Point, North Wales, and Springhouse Innovation Park. You will partner with operations, engineering, and global experts to embed process safety into design, startup, and operations while reducing risk and safeguarding assets.

The role demands at least 5 years in process safety/EHS within regulated manufacturing or research settings, with strong experience in PHAs, MOC, and risk reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, occupational safety, or related field with minimum 5 years of process safety/EHS experience.
• Experience conducting or supporting PHAs using HAZOP/What-If, applying LOPA, and developing actionable risk-reduction recommendations.
• Working knowledge of EHS MOC, pre-startup reviews, process safety information, mechanical integrity interfaces, and hazardous-process lifecycle management.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, process descriptions, operating limits, and technical records; assess safeguards and know when to escalate with global expertise.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site PSM subject matter expert and advisor for PSM standards; align priorities with system owners and process owners.
• Maintain PSM procedures, tools, templates, and role-specific training; translate changes into practical requirements.
• Oversee potentially hazardous process inventories, PHA revalidations, and risk reviews beyond formal PSM coverage.
• Provide technical leadership for PHAs (HAZOP, What-If, LOPA); support facilitator selection and approve reports.
• Coordinate ALARP reviews; document rationale, approvals, risk-reduction commitments, and timelines.
• Maintain process descriptions, safe operating limits, and P&IDs; verify safeguards during field verifications.
• Support capital projects from design through turnover; promote inherently safer design and safety information transfer.
• Lead EHS MOC procedures, assessment checklists, and training; participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety and Environmental Reviews.
