Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, seeks a Senior Specialist Engineer for the GMP-compliant SSO Pilot Plant to lead daily production activities and improve building performance. You will supervise staff, prioritize tasks, and ensure readiness for API processing in a fast-paced setting.

Expect 1st/2nd shift rotations, five days onsite, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet safety, environment and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with chemical process development and equipment.
• Experience supervising a shop-floor team in an operations environment.
• Understanding of cGMP, GDP, and Safety & Environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure processes run within facility capability and safety limits.
• Execute batch processes in hands-on or supervisory roles as needed.
• Ensure equipment readiness, cleaning, batch execution, and inventory.
• Write, issue, and review GMP documentation.
• Drive CAPA completions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with building staff to share best practices.
