Job summary

ScaleForward in Rochester, MN is hiring an experienced backend engineer to help scale systems serving traffic across MN and beyond. You’ll bring 7 years of problem-solving expertise and own backend services end to end, collaborating across teams and using Git for reliable releases.

You’ll work on Django-based tasks, Terraform architecture, and improving observability while maintaining high code quality and performance.

• Senior-level backend experience with microservices and system design.

• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and own services end to end.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services with cross-functional collaboration and Git.
• Develop self-service tools to reduce ticketing and improve developer velocity in Rochester.
• Own a technology service end to end from microservices schema to on-call rotation.
• Refactor legacy code to reduce technical debt over time.
• Identify and resolve GraphQL race conditions during peak traffic in Rochester.
• Automate Django chores to save Rochester engineering hours.
• Sketch Terraform architecture, defend in review, then implement it.
• Promote testing, security, and observability best practices.
