Job summary

Valero Port Arthur Refinery in Texas is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to provide technical expertise to support process units and meet KPI targets.

You will perform engineering calculations, monitor data, and develop designs for new projects while optimizing energy and yields. The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering, 5 years of refinery process engineering experience and hands-on process simulation skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
5 years of process engineering experience in a petroleum refinery required.
Process Simulation experience required.
On-site work at Valero Port Arthur Refinery required.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to support process units to meet targets and KPIs.
Perform engineering calculations (piping hydraulics; PSV sizing; pump/motor sizing; mass and energy balances).
Monitor unit operating data and communicate constraints to management.
Develop process designs and specifications for new projects focusing on safety, reliability, and economic improvements.
Prepare reports on unit performance, catalyst life, and energy optimization.
Support environmental and permitting data gathering and formal reports.
Respond to refinery-related issues outside regular hours when needed.
