Job summary

Calumet, Inc. is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to provide technical process engineering support for the refinery, collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental and Safety teams.

You will perform process design, debottlenecking, emissions calculations, relief sizing and use simulation tools to optimize unit performance and profitability. This on-site role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and 8–10+ years of refinery experience, with up to 10% travel and a proven record

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of process engineering experience (10+ years preferably in a refinery setting).
• Hands on and current experience with performing process design, emissions calculations, relief sizing and process simulation.
• Expertise in fractionation and hydroprocessing would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and build/maintain internal partnering relationships with other refinery departments (Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Safety).
• Provides technical guidance to unit engineers on interpretation of operating data and troubleshooting.
• Serve as a technical authority of operating limits and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach entry level engineers on process engineering tools (simulation, sizing, etc).
• Take on special projects and initiatives that are strategic in nature.
• Perform process design for refinery improvements.
• Identify and develop refinery improvement projects.
• Develop economic justification for refinery improvements.
• Prepare engineering specifications (instrument, equipment, construction, bid packages).
• Assist with design and implementation of unit optimization initiatives including Process Control.
• Solicit and evaluate bids for equipment and construction.
• Monitor and evaluate process unit performance.
• Utilize simulation software to identify and debottleneck unit constraints.
