Zachry Group’s Downers Grove, IL office seeks a Senior Process Engineer with a background in Power Generation Combined Cycle. You will design and deliver process engineering tasks, develop heat/mass balance, PFDs/P&IDs, and equipment datasheets, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will size equipment, perform hydraulic analyses, translate design basis into actionable tasks, and mentor a small team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years as a Process/Mechanical Engineer in Oil refining, gas processing, power, or chemical industries.
• 7+ years in Power, refining/gas processing or similar PSM regulated industries.
• 5+ years in an Engineering firm as a Process/Mechanical engineer.
• Comprehensive understanding of processes typically seen in Power / Process plants.
• Some travel (<25%) including client visits and safety compliance.
• Experience applying standard engineering techniques and designing with proper documentation.
• Experience in PFD, P&ID and Equipment Datasheet development.
• Proficient in Heat & Mass Balance development and hydraulic analysis; HMB for CC projects preferred.
• Knowledge of Emissions-related performance guarantees.
• Experience in fixed/rotating equipment such as STG, CTG, HRSG.
• Strong knowledge of ASME and API 520/521 and relief devices design.
• Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, written).
• Attention to detail and schedule discipline.
• Proven ability to plan resources and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with AspenTech suite for process modeling.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and apply learnings to projects.

Responsabilités

• Develop Heat and Mass Balance for Combined Cycle Power Projects.
• Create and review PFDs and P&IDs and Equipment Datasheets.
• Size and rate pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and air coolers.
• Perform hydraulic analyses for piping systems and complex flows.
• Translate design basis requirements into executable process tasks.
• Support quality programs and ensure proper input data documentation.
• Independently apply standard engineering techniques and supervise small teams.
• Participate in client Process Hazard Analysis reviews.
• Design relief systems including relief valve sizing and flare header analysis.
• Present technical information to peers/clients for review.
• Ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance across designs.
• Coordinate with offshore engineering centers for execution.
