Job summary

Zachry Group in Downers Grove is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead a small team and support process engineering and design tasks for assigned projects.

You will develop PFDs and P&IDs, size equipment, perform hydraulic analyses, mentor engineers, and participate in PHAs, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance. 15+ years in energy/chemical industries and ASME/API knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in Energy & Chemical industries.
• Experience applying standard engineering techniques to safety and environmental regulations.
• Experience in PFD and P&ID development and participation in HAZOP/LOPA studies.
• Proficient in HMB development, equipment and instrumentation process specification and hydraulic analysis.
• Strong knowledge of ASME and API 520/521 with proficiency designing relief devices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor team.
• Ability to adapt to changing client requirements and lead by example.

Responsibilities

• Develop PFDs and P&ID drawings for projects.
• Size pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and air coolers.
• Perform hydraulic analysis for piping systems and related calculations.
• Supervise and review work of a small staff of engineers.
• Mentor younger engineers and support standards development.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses for clients.
• Design relief systems and flare headers; size valves.
• Present technical information for peer review and reviews.
