Job summary

Zachry Group's Downers Grove Engineering Design Center seeks a Process Engineer IV to lead routine process engineering tasks on designated projects, following detailed supervisor guidance. The role focuses on PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balance, equipment sizing, and safety analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• 8+ years of process engineering experience in energy and chemical industries.
• Experience with hydraulic analysis, heat and material balance, and relief system analysis.
• Experience in sizing and rating pumps, vessels and exchangers.
• PFD and P&ID development experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Develop heat and material balance information using software.
• Size and rate pumps, vessels and exchangers.
• Perform hydraulic analyses for piping systems.
• Assist with relief system and flare header design and contingency analysis.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID).
• Present technical info to peers for review.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Estimate work hours and forecast budgets.
• May supervise a small staff of engineers.
