Job summary

AstraZeneca's Technical Operations Science & Innovation (TOSI) unit in Mount Vernon, Indiana, seeks a Senior Process Engineer to support manufacture, lifecycle improvement and product transfers using mechanistic, physics-informed models. Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. with at least three years of relevant experience in quantitative disciplines.
• Strong understanding of engineering or physical-science fundamentals.
• Evidence of curiosity about why processes behave, with a structured approach to testing mechanisms.
• Ability to analyze data quantitatively and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Ability to plan and deliver technical work and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide process engineering support to a prioritized portfolio of commercial products manufactured at AstraZeneca sites and by external partners.
• Plan and deliver defined technical work packages with manufacturing sites and cross-functional specialists.
• Apply engineering fundamentals and structured problem solving to understand manufacturing processes and resolve issues.
• Develop and test mechanistic explanations of process behavior using data and manufacturing records.
• Develop and apply quantitative process descriptions, including mass and energy balances and scale-up relationships.
• Support product transfers and process changes to protect supply and improve robustness.
• Communicate technical reasoning, assumptions, uncertainties and recommendations clearly in reports and discussions.
