Job summary

Audubon is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in Metairie, LA to support nitrogen fertilizer production units. You will help maintain safe, efficient, reliable operations and maximize production capacity by providing process engineering support and coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, and EHS.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to collect field data and inspect process equipment.
• Willingness to work alternative shifts to support 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
• Lead project management using stage-gate FEL framework and risk management techniques.
• Oversee multiple projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Lead site safety relief valve evaluation and coordination.
• Evaluate and optimize process equipment including PSV, compressors, turbines and boilers.
• Provide process optimization, design, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support.
• Support Management of Change processes with timely execution.
• Identify and support capital improvement projects to improve reliability and capacity.
• Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, scopes of work, and equipment specs.
• Provide written justification for management approvals.
• Review operational procedures and train operations personnel for changes.
• Participate in PHAs, HAZOP, LOPA studies and incident investigations.
• Provide technical support for new equipment fabrication or refurbishment.
• Address EHS-related action items to meet schedules.
• Assist maintenance/operations during turnarounds with planning and inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote safety improvements.
• Maintain professional relationships across departments.
• Identify internal control deficiencies and communicate to management.
• Additional duties as assigned.
