Job summary

Sierra Wireless (Rowland, CA) seeks a Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and sustain InP wafer processes, including BH DFB lasers and BH gain chips. You will own multiple process modules, apply DOE and statistics, and drive high-yield, volume production in a cleanroom.

Collaborating with Wafer Fab Supervisors and cross-functional teams, you will analyze data, define process windows, and lead root-cause investigations to improve device performance and throughput.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in materials science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or related field required.
• 2-5 years of semiconductor/photonics wafer processing experience, III-V/InP preferred.
• Hands-on experience with photolithography, PECVD, dry etch, wet etch, and metallization.
• Experience with InP-based laser or photonic IC fabrication preferred.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor process physics and chemistry, including lithography, thin films, plasma, etch, and metallization.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned process modules for InP BH DFB laser and BH GC production; ensure process capability, stability and yield.
• Develop, characterize, and optimize lithography, dielectric films, Mesa etch, and surface prep for MOCVD regrowth.
• Define process windows, specs, and control limits using designed experiments and statistics.
• Evaluate new materials, chemistries, equipment, and techniques to improve device performance and throughput.
• Characterize results using SEM, profilometry, ellipsometry, TLM, and electrical/optical data to link params to performance.
• Lead root-cause investigations for excursions, yield loss, and drift and implement corrective actions.
• Define SPC charts and monitor strategies; author POR docs and manage change control.
