About the Role:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join our client’s Chemical Engineering Team to support the engineering, productivity, and enhancement of their new state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing plant in Taunton, MA. In this role, you will develop deep technical expertise in our operations work on designing, implementing, and continuously improving our manufacturing processes and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop deep technical expertise in all processes across the manufacturing facility.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for daily operations, as well as for the commissioning and startup of new equipment—ensuring optimal safety, quality, and uptime.
  • Lead and execute process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, increase capability, and reduce waste. This includes leveraging historical manufacturing data and applying innovative, analytical approaches to problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with the internal Technical Support team to scale up products from R&D into full-scale production environments.
  • Oversee the commissioning, startup, and validation of chemical process equipment, ensuring all systems meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to verify that all equipment is installed correctly, safely, and functions according to design specifications.
  • Develop and implement validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ), prepare engineering turnover packages (ETOPs), and complete all required documentation to meet regulatory compliance, including PSSRs, PHAs, P&IDs, SOPs, and MOCs.
  • Create, review, and approve detailed specifications and technical drawings for process equipment, instrumentation, valves, and related components.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the success of the engineering team and plant operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, with a strong background in process development, troubleshooting, optimization, and project management.
  • Familiarity with batch reaction chemistry, solids filtration, powder drying, distillation, and the safe handling of large volumes of acids and solvents is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and availability to provide on-call support during off-hours and weekends as needed.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and a quick learner with the ability to think methodically and solve complex technical problems independently.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
