Job summary

Sanmina Corporation in Houston is seeking a Process Engineer to design, optimize, and control complex mechanical assembly lines and automated production systems, ensuring peak efficiency and top quality while meeting safety standards. You will lead upgrades of equipment, implement Lean principles, balance lines, and supervise documentation such as SOPs and PFMEA.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a Mechanical/Industrial engineering degree, and hands-on PLC/robotics integration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Process/Manufacturing/Assembly Engineer in a high-volume industrial environment
• Demonstrated expertise in mechanical assembly, fastening technologies, and material handling systems
• Strong knowledge of automated assembly equipment, PLC logic, and robotic integration
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (DOE, Root Cause Analysis, 8D)
• Proficiency in project management, including managing vendors and cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills to provide technical guidance and training to production staff and technicians

Responsibilities

• Design and document optimal assembly process parameters for all stages of the production line
• Lead upgrades of assembly equipment, including robotic workstations and conveyors
• Optimize automated systems to maximize throughput and minimize manual intervention
• Manage line balancing to ensure smooth hand-offs and eliminate bottlenecks
• Ensure ergonomic workstation layouts and safety compliance
• Develop and maintain SOPs, PFMEA, and audit reports
