Job summary

Fabric8Labs in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Process Engineer II to advance our ECAM-based metal additive manufacturing platform. You will collaborate across robotics, fluid handling, and embedded software, and work hands-on with our printers to scale and optimize processes.

The role emphasizes rapid experimentation in a fast-paced R&D environment, partnering with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to drive data-driven improvements and new capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering; Computer Science; Physics; or a related field.
• Experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting: use of multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• 2+ years of proven related industry experience, with non-academic research experience a plus.
• 2+ years of experience developing software using Python, especially for data analysis.
• Desirable: Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering; Computer Science; Physics; or a related field.
• Desirable: Experience with semiconductor and MEMS devices, nanofabrication process flows, RCA and failure analysis.
• Desirable: Experience with 3D printers and additive manufacturing techniques.
• Desirable: Prototyping and iterative design based on test results.

Responsibilities

• Investigate our complex, multi-physics system to gain a fundamental understanding and improve printing methods and processes.
• Work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to analyze in-situ data and post-print material characteristics, iterating on printing technology.
• Collect and analyze test data using our printers.
• Assist in supervision of other members of technical staff, including planning and reporting of technical progress.
