Job Title: Senior Process Engineer
Location: Onsite Wallingford, CT
Duration: Direct Hire
Salary: $100-130K DOE plus excellent Benefits
Description:
- Ensure safety training requirements are up to date for all team members under the manager’s responsibility.
- Follow prescribed safety policies in accordance with the company Safety program; use required PPE as specified for each Job Function.
- Maintain Master-Setups for all manufacturing tooling, parameters, and materials to ensure consistent processing of standard and R&D products.
- Maintain and update all BOMs and Routings for Finished Goods in the GP ERP system.
- Support Extrusion & Converting Production by evaluating and enhancing manufacturing methods, troubleshooting issues, and supporting challenging products.
- Collaborate with Product Development during R&D trials.
- Coordinate with Production to manage tooling and material drying logistics according to schedule.
- Review completed production documentation for conformance to standard operating parameters; investigate deviations and implement updates as needed.
- Update Unit of Measure conversions in GP for products that do not match actual weights.
- Track yields and material reconciliations for all materials.
- Set, monitor, and evaluate goals to drive continuous improvement within the Process Engineering Team.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate work with Capabilities Development, Product Development, Sales/Marketing, and Manufacturing teams.
- Report relevant operating data metrics in WL Objectives Intranet file for ISO compliance.
- Develop methods to improve tracking of efficiencies, downtime, and yields in production processes.
- Complete special projects and assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years in a plastics processing environment in a Process Engineering role.
- Experience with film or sheet extrusion.
- Strong practical manufacturing knowledge.
- Hands-on experience interfacing with all levels of manufacturing.
- Ability to develop and implement procedures and training for new equipment/processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and analytical tools.
The Senior Process Engineer provides comprehensive support to the Extrusion and Converting departments, maintaining process standards, tooling, materials, and logistics. This role involves developing procedures, collaborating with production managers, and driving process improvements to enhance yield and efficiency.
