Position Description:

  • Determine and lead strategic planning, design, and implementation of facility layout and production flow in an OEM fiberglass boat manufacturing facility to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles, processes and tools to support operational and site objectives and to provide organizational agility.
  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement in a labor-intensive production process, utilizing quality data analytics, root cause analysis, Gemba, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Manage all aspects of capital projects up to, and in excess of $1M.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex production equipment & systems.
  • Design and implement custom tools, fixtures, and production aids in order to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Lead strategic planning, design, and implementation of facility layout and production flow initiatives to support future production plans.
  • Identify, define and implement systematic improvements that promote and sustain the overall business strategies and initiatives, as well as adjust process plans to accommodate future production plans.
  • Work with multiple levels of plant personnel to achieve objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve production issues, improve processes, reduce variation, and ultimately improve facility performance metrics.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization, from operator to senior leadership, and partners with external resources and contractors in order to successfully execute projects and objectives.

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering.

Experience Requirement: 5 years of experience as process engineer, manufacturing engineer or related.

Special Skills: Must have work experience with each of the following: (1) Perform strategic planning, design, and implementation of facility layout and flow to support future production growth in a boat manufacturing facility; (2) Project management of capital projects with budgets up to and in excess of $1M; (3) Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex production equipment and systems; (4) Design and implement custom tools, fixtures, and production aids; (5) Drive continuous improvement activity in a labor intensive production process, utilizing quality data analytics, root cause analysis, Gemba, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies within boat manufacturing.

Salary: $97,635
