Job description

MGS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join our MGS Germantown Manufacturing team.

As a Senior Process Engineer at MGS, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and improving plastic molding processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and productivity. You will provide expert technical guidance to process technicians, resolving molding-related issues promptly and effectively. Serving as a key liaison, you will work closely with internal customers to diagnose challenges and implement sustainable solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate proactively with scheduling, tool room personnel, quality assurance teams, and other departments, effectively communicating and addressing any concerns that could impact production schedules or product quality.

Below are additional duties and responsibilities:

  1. Perform tool qualifications.
  2. Aid in the development of plastic processing project instructions to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of materials or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
  3. Devise and recommend new or modified components of plastic injection molding machinery.
  4. Conduct tests such as process window studies and design of experiments of plastic injection molding processes to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
  5. Analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
  6. Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in process, product, or test methods.
  7. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  8. Interact with customers during sampling and development of projects. Will travel to customer facilities to represent the company as needed.
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.

A qualified Senior Process Engineer candidate would fulfill these requirements:
