Job Title: Sr. Food Process Engineer

Location: East Chicago, IN

Salary: $95K- 135K + 10% Bonus

LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Sr. Food Process Engineer to join our client's organization in the East Chicago, IN area.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of new or modified food processing and packaging systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, USDA).
• Apply sanitary design principles in equipment selection and process layout.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting automated processing and packaging lines.
• Develop and maintain process documentation including SOPs, validation reports, and training materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, R&D, Operations, Maintenance) to support product launches and continuous improvement.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Manage equipment procurement, vendor selection, and capital justification.
• Support labor modeling, cost analysis, and operational planning.
• Oversee utilities coordination and system start-up activities.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as throughput, waste, and efficiency.
• Ensure alignment with GMP, HACCP, and other food safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, food science, or a related field.
• 7–10+ years of experience in food manufacturing or process engineering.
• Knowledge of food safety systems and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with high-speed automated packaging equipment.
• Proficiency in process layout tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing data platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
