Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a lab-based Process Development Engineering Senior Scientific Associate in Boston to join a fast-paced team focused on bench-scale and high-throughput bioreactor studies, including ambr250 platforms and perfusion systems.

You will perform mammalian cell culture with aseptic technique, manage equipment setup, media exchange, sampling, and data capture, while collaborating with process development, engineering, and analytical teams to implement new tools and scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in mammalian cell culture or a Master’s with 0-2 years preferred.
• Experience with bench-scale bioreactors, perfusion systems, high-throughput bioreactors, lab automation, and process-development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Supports planning, execution, and documentation of process-development studies using bench-scale and high-throughput bioreactor platforms.
• Performs mammalian and stem cell culture activities with aseptic technique for process development.
• Executes study activities: equipment setup, media prep, perfusion-system operation, sampling, harvest, and cell counting.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment including bioreactors, perfusion systems, liquid-handling, and data systems.
• Supports automated/semi-automated workflows for liquid handling, processing, and data collection.
• Documents study procedures and results with high data integrity; contributes to technical reports.
