Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL seeks a Process Design Engineer III/Senior Process Design Engineer to drive refinery process optimization and project development. You’ll design, simulate, and evaluate projects, mentor engineers, and support HAZOPs and safety reviews.

The role offers flexible scheduling options including full in-office, hybrid, and 9/80 schedules, with relocation support available. A strong background in chemical engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering is required.
• 4 years of process engineering experience in refining or heavy industry.
• US work authorization and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to long-term refinery strategy and identify throughput/energy improvements.
• Develop process designs for projects and unit modifications (PFDs, P&IDs, heat/material balances).
• Run simulations and calculations for sizing, hydraulics, energy optimization; lead ROI analyses.
