Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an experienced Process Controls Engineer to design and commission PLC-based control systems for complex process facilities. You will work with clients, vendors, and internal teams to define control solutions and develop wiring diagrams and functional descriptions.

The role includes on-site commissioning and operator training, with travel up to 25%. The ideal candidate has 5 years of process controls experience in Pulp and Paper or Food & Beverage, plus hands-on PLC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or chemical engineering.
• 5 years Process Controls experience in Pulp and/or Food & Beverage.
• Experience with PLCs and USDA pasteurizer requirements.
• Experience with Wonderware InTouch/ArchestrA and FactoryTalk HMI.
• Experience in Food & Beverage manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams for process control needs.
• Assist Project Managers and Process Engineers in estimating controls work.
• Specify controls hardware components and develop wiring diagrams.
• Review installation documents for technical accuracy against controls specs.
• Write Functional Descriptions and develop PLC programs.
• Commission PLC programs onsite and train operators.
