Job summary

Philip Morris USA (PMUSA) in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer I to support Primary Processing at the Richmond Manufacturing Center. You will own and improve the automation that powers production, driving stability, capacity, and quality across operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience with process control systems and related hardware/software (HMIs, historians, DCS).
Experience with PLC/HMI development and plant automation standards.
Knowledge of P&IDs and Loop Sheets preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support during normal and off-business hours to assure processing meets business needs.
Develop and maintain PLC applications and HMI interfaces.
Implement control system enhancements that lift process capability and meet demand.
Analyze process data to assess health and performance; Canary experience desired.
Plan and execute projects leveraging internal union labor and external resources, adhering to union notification processes.
Lead reliability workstreams using root cause analysis, predictive maintenance, and failure prevention.
Mentor operations and maintenance teams on technical subjects.
